Voices from recent cohorts
Tan Kwang Hwee
Toa Payoh, Singapore · The Lattice Discussions
"I had always meant to sit down and look properly at our CPF accounts but there was never quite the right moment. The four sessions gave me that structure. The facilitator was patient and the printed reader is still on my desk."

Priya Lakshmanan
Bukit Timah, Singapore · Investment Course
"I had tried reading books about investing but I always got stuck on the terminology. Having someone to ask questions — and others in the group asking their own — made a real difference. By the end I felt I understood what I was actually holding in my CDP account."

Mohamed Rafi
Clementi, Singapore · The Bamboo Track
"My wife and I had been putting off writing our wills for years, and we also needed to think properly about caring for my mother as she gets older. The Bamboo Track gave us a clear way to work through all of it. The written notes after each session were particularly useful — we referred back to them several times."

Susan Chua
Tampines, Singapore · The Lattice Discussions
"My husband passed away two years ago and I suddenly had to handle our finances on my own. I had never really been involved before. The group was welcoming and the questions from other participants often covered exactly what I was wondering myself but hadn't quite formed into words yet."

Rajesh Govindarajan
Bishan, Singapore · Investment Course
"The session on fees and costs over a long horizon was the one that changed my thinking most. I knew fees mattered but I had not worked through what they actually meant over twenty or thirty years. I ended up reviewing my unit trust holdings quite carefully after that."

Lily Wong
Jurong West, Singapore · The Bamboo Track
"We had accumulated quite a bit over the years — a combination of CPF, some equities, a flat that is paid off — but we had never looked at it all together as one picture. The Bamboo Track helped us understand what we actually had and what a sensible plan for the next fifteen years might look like."

Household journeys
Three households, three paths
The situation
A couple in their early fifties, retirement approaching
Both partners were working, CPF balances had grown over careers, and retirement was ten to twelve years away. Neither had looked carefully at their CPF Retirement Account or estimated what they might actually need each month after work.
The programme
The Bamboo Track
Seven sessions working through the household balance sheet, CPF projections, the couple's existing insurance coverage, their accumulated portfolio, and the question of property — whether to downgrade, and what the timeline might look like. A household summary document was prepared at the close.
What changed
Clarity where there had been vagueness
The couple identified two insurance policies they no longer needed. They established a clear view of their CPF Full Retirement Sum position. They felt better prepared for conversations with their bank about restructuring their savings in the decade ahead.
The situation
A professional in her mid-forties, newly single
Following a divorce, she was managing household finances on her own for the first time. She had a decent salary and some savings but no clear picture of where she stood or what she should be doing differently.
The programme
The Lattice Discussions, then the Investment Course
She attended the Lattice Discussions first, which gave her a clear household picture. The following quarter she joined the Investment Course to go deeper on how to manage the savings she was now setting aside each month.
What changed
Confidence to make her own decisions
She described leaving the Investment Course with enough knowledge to ask the right questions of her broker rather than simply accepting what was presented. She also started investing a small amount each month in a low-cost ETF as a way of beginning.
The situation
A family with an ageing parent and no estate plan
The father was 78 and still healthy but had no will, no lasting power of attorney, and a property in his sole name. The adult children had begun to worry about what would happen if his health deteriorated unexpectedly.
The programme
The Bamboo Track
The programme was attended by one of the adult children, acting on behalf of the family. Sessions covered the framework for lasting powers of attorney in Singapore, the basics of will drafting, and how to prepare a household summary document that could be shared with a solicitor.
What changed
A clear path through unfamiliar territory
The family left knowing which steps to take, in which order, and what questions to ask their solicitor. They had a clear summary document and a calm plan rather than a worry they kept pushing aside.
