Acceptance of These Terms
By submitting an enquiry, confirming enrolment, or attending any session, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not proceed with enrolment and contact us to discuss your questions.
Our programmes are intended for adults aged 18 and above who have the legal capacity to enter into an agreement.
Section 3
Description of Our Services
Cahaya provides financial education programmes for adults in Singapore. Our three current programmes are:
- The Lattice Discussions — a four-week group programme covering household financial fundamentals, held on Saturday mornings. Fee: SGD 290.
- The Quiet Household Investment Course — a ten-week course covering investment categories, costs, and temperament. Fee: SGD 470.
- The Bamboo Track — a seven-session bespoke programme conducted over approximately three months, shaped around the household's specific situation. Fee: SGD 790.
All programmes are educational in nature and do not constitute financial advice, investment recommendations, or the provision of regulated financial services under the Financial Advisers Act (Cap. 110) of Singapore.
Section 4
Enrolment and Confirmation
Enrolment is confirmed when Cahaya sends you a written confirmation by email and payment of the fee is received. Places in group programmes are limited; submission of an enquiry does not constitute a reservation.
For the Bamboo Track, enrolment is confirmed following an initial conversation to ensure the programme suits your household's situation, followed by payment of the stated fee.
Section 5
Fees, Payment, and Refunds
All fees are stated in Singapore Dollars (SGD) and are inclusive of applicable taxes. Payment is due at the time of enrolment confirmation. We accept bank transfer and commonly used electronic payment methods; details are provided in the enrolment confirmation email.
Cancellation and refund policy:
- Cancellation made 14 or more calendar days before the first session: full refund.
- Cancellation made 7 to 13 calendar days before the first session: 50% refund.
- Cancellation made fewer than 7 days before the first session: no refund, though we will discuss deferral to a future cohort where this is practicable.
- If Cahaya cancels a session or programme, a full refund will be issued.
Refund requests should be sent by email to [email protected].
Section 6
Rescheduling and Changes by Cahaya
We will make every effort to hold sessions as scheduled. In the event that a session must be postponed due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, we will notify enrolled participants as early as possible and arrange a suitable alternative date. Where rescheduling is not possible, a proportional refund will be provided.
Section 7
Participant Conduct
We ask that all participants treat facilitators and fellow participants with courtesy. The discussion environment is intended to be calm and confidential; participants are asked not to share details of other participants' financial situations outside the session. Recording of sessions, whether audio or video, is not permitted without the written consent of Cahaya.
Cahaya reserves the right to ask a participant to leave a session if their conduct is disruptive or disrespectful. In such circumstances, no refund will be provided.
Section 8
Intellectual Property
All materials provided as part of a programme — including printed readers, summary booklets, and written session notes — are the intellectual property of Cahaya. They are licensed to you for your personal, non-commercial use only. They may not be copied, distributed, or shared with third parties without our written permission.
Section 9
Educational Disclaimer
Our programmes provide general financial education and are not a substitute for regulated financial advice tailored to your individual circumstances. We do not hold a financial adviser's licence and do not recommend specific investment products, insurance policies, or financial strategies. Participants should consult a licensed financial adviser for personalised recommendations.
While we take care to ensure the accuracy of content, financial regulations and market conditions change; Cahaya makes no representation that any information provided will remain current after the date of a session.
Section 10
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Singapore law, Cahaya's total liability to you in connection with a programme is limited to the fee paid for that programme. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses arising from participation in or non-participation in our programmes, including any financial decisions made following attendance.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Section 11
Privacy
The personal data you provide in connection with enrolment is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). We use your data only to manage your enrolment and to correspond with you about the programme.
Section 12
Amendments to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. For participants already enrolled in a programme, the Terms that applied at the time of enrolment continue to apply to that programme.
Section 13
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. We hope that any disagreement can be resolved through a direct conversation. If an issue cannot be resolved informally, both parties agree to submit first to mediation through the Singapore Mediation Centre before pursuing other legal remedies. The courts of Singapore shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
